jamie 1978 Posted 24 April , 2005 Share Posted 24 April , 2005 Hope someone more in the know can help me out. I have recently started collecting WW1 medals and have noticed a slight differance between two victory medals which I have. What is the correct order in which they should be inscribed. Name, Rank, Number,Unit or Number,Rank,Name, Unit. Is it possible that one is a fake? or is there no specific order. I should add that they are both Canadian, one being Canadian Engineers and on RNCVR. jamie
DirtyDick Posted 24 April , 2005 Share Posted 24 April , 2005 Apart from officers, the Navy have rank shown after surname on medals, eg. J.123 I. P. FREELY A.B. R.N. This contrasts with the Army, who have rank shown before name for all ranks. Richard
Pte1643 Posted 25 April , 2005 Share Posted 25 April , 2005 eg. J.123 I. P. FREELY A.B. R.N. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I P Freely, indeed... Ricardo, How long have you been waiting to use that one? Just to add, the "Service Number" Always appears First. Mark.
