medal inscriptions

Hope someone more in the know can help me out. I have recently started collecting WW1 medals and have noticed a slight differance between two victory medals which I have. What is the correct order in which they should be inscribed.

Name, Rank, Number,Unit or Number,Rank,Name, Unit. Is it possible that one is a fake? or is there no specific order. I should add that they are both Canadian, one being Canadian Engineers and on RNCVR.

Apart from officers, the Navy have rank shown after surname on medals, eg. J.123 I. P. FREELY A.B. R.N.

This contrasts with the Army, who have rank shown before name for all ranks.

I P Freely, indeed...

Ricardo, How long have you been waiting to use that one? :D

Just to add, the "Service Number" Always appears First.

Mark.
