Dear reader,

Sorry I have been away on a secret mission that has prevented me practicing my two digit typing method (Mrs Beeton eat yer heart out)

It's all very fraught here in the Black country, as this Sunday is FA cup round four: Wolves v Sandwell united.

Lets hope it all passes off peacefully.

As for me dear reader I shall be having a Duvet day at kick off time (1pm) as I'm once again about to start nights.

For those who care about my welfare, 'we' do a set (two sometimes three) nights each week. The shifts go something like this, two earlies, two lates and two nights. On each cycle 'we' do an extra shift of each tour. This weekend I have to do three nights so I'll be extra grumpy when I return from slumberland. We then get three days off. However as the first 'day off' is spent in bed you really only get two and a half days to avoid doing the household chores.

During the past couple of days I have had an e-mail from one of the guys involved in the WW2 Pegasus bridge D-day Coup-de-main attack.

Denis Edwards is now 83 years, he was in number one glider with Maj Howard (Later to gain the DSO) Sadly ill health is having a serious effect on Denis but he writes with the same fighting spirit shown by those Ox & Bucks/ 6 Airlanding brigade guys.

I see that Roy Evans the OIC South Staffs pals meetings has slipped off on his jolidays, well I wish him well and welcome Mr Doug Lewis as 2i/c.

Now Doug has the build of one of those old brick ablution buildings down the bottom of the garden, so there should be no mutiny whilst Roy is away building sand castles.

If Doug says it's Tuesday, believe me it's Tuesday

Well must dash dear reader. Daughter is champing at the bit to get back in her room (mission control) and I have to crash out in a hot bath whilst listening to the 'Soul Train' on Saga radio. (105.7FM) Yes I'm an old f*rt but I love Nothern, Motown and all things Soul music and for three hours each Friday night (7-10) that is all they play. B)

Kind regards and may your God keep you safe.

Shifts...........Ah yes, in 27 years as a front line plod I have had to endure many different shift patterns.

Not moaning, cos I knew there was shift work when I started, but I do get cross when you hear of the sick and lame who manage to avoid doing shifts but collect the same money as I do.

I can't go into details on here just incase people accidently read it and know who I'm slagging off.
