Dear reader,

You may have seen Mr David Beckham on the tv news this evening.

If reports are to be believed......................

It seems he is due to leave the Spanish football giants Real Madrid and seek a new life playing footy in the United States of America.

Why the heck would he want to do that ? (any self respecting footy fan was heard to say, no, shout!! )

A reported $1 million per WEEK!!!!!!!!!!:blink: Or £128 Million over his 5 year contract!!

Good God almighty!!!!

Just done a currency convertion and that dear reader, works out at £514,190.61p per week

or to round the numbers up.............in excess of £2 million a month

If I put together every penny I have ever earned/spent, my house, evry car I have ever owned and my pension, I will have no where near the sum of money Mr beckham is going to earn in just one weeks.

So who is to blame for this obscene amount of cash going into 'his' bank ever week?

Will USA footy fans suddenly fill stadiums to capacity just to see Mr B?

What will his 'team mates' think about him getting the same wages as all of them combined?

Can we blame Mr B?

We can't blame him.......If some one was stupid enough to give me a contract for 5 years paying £2 million a month I would bloody well swim to the States.

Don't get me wrong, I know Becks does a load of stuff for charity, I even like him as a man, blimey I even like Posh for the way she has to put up with the press and all that cr*p. This pay deal is toooooooooooo much though.

The Birmingham manager Steve Bruce was on Match of the day the other night bemoaning the empty seats around the grounds on 3rd round FA cup day. He spoke what many have believed for a long time.

Football is slowly pricing itself away from its core support....the working man....

With admission prices for one Premiership game around the average £35:00 mark and Spurs even quote the crazy price of £71 for some games how the hell can Mr average afford that?

They can't can they, that's why corporate hospitality takes over....Was it Roy Keane who mentioned (Slagged off ) the prawn sandwich brigade?

I have a relative who had a coporate invite to the Ashes tests over here in Blighty (when we won it) He was treated to a five course meal and as much wine/champagne as you could swill. Every guest was given a thick glossy programme and a free England badged wide brimmed 'floppy' cricket hat.

He said it was 'sick' to watch most of the guests they simply got pi**sed, threw all the 'gifts' away and never even ventured out the 'tent' to go and watch any of the game.

I would have given one of my wifes arms to have gone to one of those tests!

Someone somewhere is going to have a very rude awakening when the fans stop going.
