JULY

July 1^st: Wound inflamed, had to give up working. Resting all day.

 July 2^nd: Wound dressed in morning, resting all day.

 July 3^rd: same as yesterday.

 July 4^th: ditto

 July 5^th: ditto

 July 6^th: wound getting better. Went out at night.

 July 7^th: went out in afternoon for walk.

 July 8^th: getting better again. Wound nearly healed.

 July 9^th: Expect to go out shortly. Went for a walk to Zegerscappel in evening.

 July 10^th: Drew equipment for rejoining Battery tomorrow. Wound just about healed.

 July 11^th: Left hospital went to (?) for Battery not there. Went to area commandant (unclear) Battery at Ypres on train at (unclear) for Proven (?)

 July 12^th: Arrived at Battery OK. Have to quiet rest in afternoon.

 July 13^th: in wagon park painting wagons. Going in action tomorrow morning.

 July 14^th: Not in action- cancelled. Painting Wagons in Gun Park 

 July 15^th: Very heavy thunderstorm. Ditto yesterday.

July 16^th: Ditto

 July 17^th: Going to gun line tonight. Afternoon went to forward wagon line

 July 18^th: Got to forward section as I am on Ypres (unclear) Road. Took over as Fitter owing to the fitter getting wounded.

 July 19^th: (unclear) No. 5 Gun Range drum aid leaking slight. Examined No. 6 Gun

 July 20^th: No 6 Gun (unclear) wore out changed pumped up again pump broke not able to get above 650. Gun runs up alright (?)

 July 21^st: Both guns alright. Got two letters- Home and E. Quiet day, Germans shelling road behind. Very windy.

 July 22^nd: Shelled by High Velocity gun about 6ins nearly hit No.5 (unclear) silenced it. Rather quiet afternoon.

 July 23^rd: Unusual staffing (?) due to closeness Germans supposed to attack in morning. Our guns (?)

 July 24^th: Away early this morning. No attack. Shelled again by 6ins gun. Got letter from home.

 July 25^th: My birthday. 3^rd one in France.

 July 26^th: Rather quiet day nothing doing much. Warm.

 July 27^th: One of our planes down on fire. One German down.

 July 28^th: Shelling rather lively, had to run from guns

 July 29^th: Weather warm. Going to workshop on a Fitters course. Shelled again.

 July 30^th: Cancelled (?) tomorrow going to workshop.

 July 31^st: Went to 11&12 workshop at (Watow?)

 August 25^th: German plane over last night bombing. Dropped 3 bombs around
