Hoping John H can help here, I have "discovered" a soldier born in Newhey who was killed on 17th Feb 1917, as it is the next village to mine, I need more info on him than SDGW or CWGC can give, his name is Harold Fielding Lowcock (or Locock) 10th Batt Cheshire Regt enlisted Stockport, anything further on him anywhere out there ? Regards Ralph.

Ralph

I must have missed this first time around. Unfortunately, 4.5 years further on, there's little I can add, other than to mention he is commemorated on the memorial at St Georges Church, Stockport (he's not remembered on a civic memorial in the Borough)

Are you a member of Ancestry? His service records are available.

I'm happy to help if you don't have access.

1911 census states he was born in Milnrow, SDGW states Rochdale.

He is 1 of 34 men of the Cheshire Regiment, named on the Ploegsteert Memorial, to be lost that day.
