Remembered Today:

Demarcation stone...

There used to be a demarcation stone in Vierstraat, near Kemmel no. 1 cemetery. I read it was removed a few years ago. Is this stone back in place again (and, if so, at its original position)?

Roel,

The stone will soon be replaced close to the "Kleine Vierstraat". crossroads in the Vierstraat at Kemmel. The demarcation stone close to Kemmel no.1 was almost correct... Stupid story...

Thanks, Frie.

My guess is its new location will be where the old trench used to be, between Kemmel no. 1 and Kleine Vierstraat?

Roel,

I hope, --they listen. More than 10 years ago we were concerned, with our historic society, in a project concerning the demarcation stones because they subsided... So our society consolidated the stones. We can give the town of heuvelland all the information they need about this matter, but will they ask???

Somehow I doubt the stone is on top of their things to do-list :angry2:

The yellow mark shows the position where the German advance came to a halt.
