Mark Foxe Posted 17 May , 2008 Share Posted 17 May , 2008 I am hopeful that someone may be able to assist me in obtaining a snap-shot of the site a of an Aussie (14th Battalion) trench raid on the night of 2nd July 1916. The war diary gives the location as Bois Grenier trenches and the reference as being I 26 b 8.5 7.5 Thanks as ever, Mark
AlanCurragh Posted 17 May , 2008 Share Posted 17 May , 2008 Here you go Mark, a map from 1918, but it is the one which best shows the trench names - the same ones are marked on the 1916 maps but with no names Alan
AlanCurragh Posted 17 May , 2008 Share Posted 17 May , 2008 ...and a modern day map of the same area. Looks like you spot is right in the middle of the industrial estate. Let me know if you need anything else... Alan
Mark Foxe Posted 19 May , 2008 Author Share Posted 19 May , 2008 Outstanding, thanks a lot Alan. This is really helpful. An industrial estate really prohibits walking the ground doesn't it! Best wishes, Mark
