andrew pugh Posted 1 May , 2009 Share Posted 1 May , 2009 Ho FenTiger. I think they were near a place called Crab Crawl which were a series of dugouts near the present day Railway Dugouts Cemetery. Regards Andy
cliff brown Posted 1 May , 2009 Share Posted 1 May , 2009 Hi Peter, From our previous conversations by email, I think your man was in F (Whittlesey) company originally, then went into the new C company (the amalgamation of E & F coys).
philipthespur Posted 8 December , 2014 Share Posted 8 December , 2014 Hi All, I am currently researching my Great Uncle Billie, William H Charretie, PTE, 37079, 1/1 Cambridgshires formerly 31940 Royal Fusiliers. Billie was killed on Friday March 22nd 1918 during the First Somme battle 1918 and his body was never found. I understand he was part of 39th division, 118 brigade and I assume they were falling back before the german onslaught? Anyway I really would appreciate any info on where 118 brigade were on March 21/22 1918, war diaries? or heavens above any photos?? I have read that the The Cambridgeshires, 1914-1919, by Riddell and Clayton is good and will try to acquire it. Many thanks in advance,
