nearest I could find

cheers Dave

13th batallion royal fusiliers

Thanks,Dave.I'm still puzzled.I accept he may not be a cavalyman, but a driver, but the famous "Daily Mail"picture of the 13th RF at La Boisselle,July 1916 shows shoulder titles that look quite different.

I did find a picture in the Osprey volume on Great War Territorials, showing shoulder titles SIY for the Shropshire Yeomanry in the Middle East. However, the cap badge in another source doesn't look right for my picture.

The photo was taken in Ramsgate,so I guess the man came from there,or was at camp there,or was based there at some time.

The cap badge is not the 13th battalion Royal Fusiliers. It is the 13th (County of London) battalion of the London Regiment. (Kensington) or more correctly, 13th (County of London) Princess Louise's Kensington battalion.

However, I am not sure that the man in the photograph is in the Kensingtons.
