Frederick Johnstone Watson - Lieutenant 43rd Battalion CEF. On his attestation records he replies to the question, 'Do you belong to the Active Militia?' with : 79th C.H. of C Black Watch. Can't think what C H of C means!! anyone help with a sensible suggestion please?

See also this list of common abbreviations from Library and Archives Canada as it relates to Attestation Papers:

http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealo...9.006.01-e.html

A more detailed list is also in one of the Matrix Utilities here:

http://cefresearch.com/matrix/Utilities/abbreviations.htm

and lastly Brett has a large list on the CEFSG forum site.

At any time, Canadian Pals are here to assist, as your group has so readily assisted the colonials!
