per ardua per mare per terram Posted 3 April , 2008 Share Posted 3 April , 2008 Units of the Royal Flying Corps were based all over France in WWI, there were over 100 aeroplane squadrons and various other units such as kite balloons. centurion Posted 3 April , 2008 Share Posted 3 April , 2008 I suspect you are thinking of the Lafayette escadrille that had American volunteers in it. There were also some American volunteers scattered around the the RFC squadrons. Some of these pilots transfered to the American forces after the US entered the war (as did most of the volunteers in the French forces) but some stayed in the RFC Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
