Remembered Today:

Is this Henry Noyes yours?

Small miracles do happen. I've been lucky enough to find, online, some WWI pension records relating to my husband's grandfather. Pages and pages of information until, I got towards the end when something didn't quite make sense, like the small matter of him being in the Berkshire Regiment in Feb. 1880 - quite an achievement for someone who was born in Greenwich, served in the London Regiment ... Oh! and wasn't born until 1897!

So, are you by any chance looking for a Henry Noyes? There's no date of birth so far as I can see, but he came from Windsor, his mother was Elizabeth and he married a Charlotte (nee indistinct but) possibly 'Shearer'.

He was a bit of a bad lad, according to page 592, he was found guilty by GCM of one offence and had 5 other Regimental entries!

Here's the link:

As a BTW - 'Character on being passed to reserve' says: Very bad, having been tried and convicted by GCM of conspiring to ... then the next bit looks like 'chase a .... and I can't read 'what'. Although I'm pretty sure he's nothing to do with me, I'd just love to know what he was conspiring about!!

Anyway - if this is your Henry, this is a little wealth of info. Enjoy.

Our Henry Noyes enlisted in the Berkshire Regiment 18/2/1880 as B/2005. He served until 17/2/1892 when he was discharged at his own request. I am not about to pay Ancestry for a very occasional glimse at their material but would be interested in any info on him for our regimental records.
