I have a copy of the book by C.P.Deedes Colonel, KOYLI published 1946.

The book is a register (in alphabetical order) of Officers who have served on a Regular Commision in the Regiment. It does not cover officers that served in the Militia,Special Reserve,Volunteer or Territorial Btn's or those who have held temporary Commisions.

This said it does cover a lot of men who served during WW1,giving dates of commission and promotions,a potted history of the man's service and the medals awarded to him.

Willing to do look ups.

Regards Doug

Hello Doug

Thankyou very much for that, its exactly what I am looking for. Just one point. Heath is shown to have been KiA on 2/10/15 whereas the Bn war diary lists him as being killed on 1/10.

Thanks again

Andy

Doug,

Do you have anything on the following:

2 Lieutenant Henry Burden Hodges, killed in action on Hill 60 on the 18 April 1915. Aged 19, he was the son of J F W Hodges, Glenravel House, Glenravel. His brother was also an officer in the KOYI and survived the war.

Doug,

Many thanks for that. An interesting career of a brave man. I've read his citation for the MC and very lucky he was to survive.

Hello Eden12345 and welcome to the Forum,

You might be better off starting your own thread under Soldiers ?

How about this Capt AE Cooke of the Cambridgeshire Regt. Address per Medal Index Card on Ancestry:    2, Regents Terrace, South Parade, Doncaster . Does the address look like a possibility ?

Charlie

And I suspect this is the Service Record at the National Archives that matches it ?  reference   WO 374/15187 Albert Edward Cooke, Capt, Cambridgeshire Regt

Edit- Since the 5th Bn KOYLI was a 2nd Line unit, based at Doncaster 1918 I suspect the above is him. There is a 1917 newspaper article showing Lt AE Cooke Cambs Regt (TF) appointed Adjt the West Riding Volunteer Regt, temporary Capt whilst so employed, which could also be him since one of the ER Vol Bns became part of 5th KOYLI in late 1918, I think.?
