I know this is a long shot .... but here goes

Does anyone have access to the Cheltenham Echo dated 27/3/ 1915

I believe there are prisoners listed from 1st Bn Glosters, including Pte 7045 Walter James Gardner.

Can anyone access this newspaper and confirm this, and gave any info as to what was actually written in this article.

Thanking you

Paul

Paul,

It is my database that the Glosters use - I presume you received the information from them. The information in the database was compiled some time ago now -over 10 years ago - but to the best of my knowledge the info you are seeking just came from a list of names who were taken POW - there would be nothing else - just a list of names . I presume that you have the following on Pte Gardner - enlisted 14/4/03 - crossed to France 13/8/14 - discharged 19/3/19 (Silver War Badge No 475344) - associated with Neath.

I should point out that I have an understanding with the Glosters that I will not pass on information from my database in response to a direct enquiry (this is not one) - so if anyone contacts me for information on a Gloster I will refer them to the Regimental Museum.
