stevem49 Posted 8 March , 2008 Share Posted 8 March , 2008 Can I just add my Granddaughters effort - also year 6 My Granddaughter's school always spend time on Remembrance and yesterday used my website as a basis for WW1. They all had to write a poem and although I am biased, I thought Aimee's was worth showing. WAR "Fast and whistling the shrapnel falls, killing him instantly" Roundabout no-mans land During our last stand Many have fought so well Though many have not lived to tell A tale of sorrow mixed with joy. Mud and noise, gas, lice and fears Reduce the bravest man to tears. Once more the suns dawning light Brings to view the gruesome sight In Flanders mud left lying Men and Horses dead and dying A tale of sorrow brought by war. Mud and noise, gas, lice and fears Reduce the bravest men to tears. Told by a soldier of the Great War. By Aimee Morse The teacher put - excellent, 6/6, very moving. I agree, what do you think at this time of Remembrance. Good to know that the kids are taking history on board. They are all a credit. sm

stevem49 Posted 8 March , 2008 Share Posted 8 March , 2008 It always helps if teacher also has an interest in the subject. Our junior and senior sections are lucky in that respect. Look forward to more of the poems. sm
