bts1970 Posted 27 February , 2008 Share Posted 27 February , 2008 Evening One name i have been given for my research is Signalman EDWARD BOWEN 230362, (RFR/PO/B/2774). H.M.S. "Good Hope.", Royal Navy who died age 31 on 01 November 1914 Husband of Ellen Thompson (formerly Bowen), of 76, St. Chads Avenue, North End, Portsmouth. Native of Swindon. Remembered with honour PORTSMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL His link with Purton is that his father lived there at some time, Edward lived in swindon prior to moving to portsmouth, to be included on my extras list i am trying to see if his father lived in the village during or just after the war, any chance someone can look on the 1901 to see if the Bowen family were residents of Purton then. Edward died aged 31 on 1st November 1914, as yet i have no name for his father Best regards Bob
