nlcrosbie Posted 27 February , 2008 Share Posted 27 February , 2008 Hi i am currently doing a dissertation on 'womens voluntary organisations during ww1 in north london' and just wondered if anyone had any information they could give me that would help me. For instance, any military hospitals in the area (VADs), any significant women local to this area who carried out voluntary work, women police in the area? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated North London would have been a prime recruiting area for the FANY (and I suspect that is where some of the leading lights lived). Try Googling (or a more appropriate academic bibliographic search engine - ask your university/college librarian) or: http://www.fany.org.uk/history/ww1/ww1_page_01.html http://www.greatwardifferent.com/Great_War..._6/Fanny_01.htm http://books.google.com/books?id=QQVdIPCf6...OhRA6AY#PPP1,M1 HTH David
