Steven Broomfield Posted 25 February , 2008 Share Posted 25 February , 2008 I guess we're all used to War Memorials with a Mission: schools, village halls, cots at the local children's hospital? Well, a week or so ago I had to collect Number 1 daughter from Totton (outside Southampton), and I've seen it all. The War Memorial Car Park!!!!! Steven Broomfield Posted 25 February , 2008 Author Share Posted 25 February , 2008 (Actually, to be fair, it's a car park next to the War Memorial, but it did make me laugh)
Greyhound Posted 25 February , 2008 Share Posted 25 February , 2008 A bit like the taxi rank by the Titanic Engineers Memorial in Southampton being known by the drivers as "the Titanic".
Neil Clark Posted 25 February , 2008 Share Posted 25 February , 2008 Obviously the civic war memorial was there BEFORE the Car Park and the local people referred to the car park as "The War Memorial Car Park", I guess it makes good sense... Pity the war memorial has no names of the fallen on it. Perhaps the village roll of honour can be put on the car park sign? (that's a joke..). Interesting thread...
