Dog face Posted 23 February , 2008 Share Posted 23 February , 2008 I have three Large Medals and two small Badges from a Hugh Campbell who served in WW1. The first medal is: THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVLISATION 1914-1919. On this Medal is stamped, 29539 SJT. H. Campbell 16-can.Inf.. Next is a medal with cross Swords dated 1914-1915, stamped on the back, 29539 Pte H. Campbell 16/Can:INF:..Last medal which has a figure head with no ribbon is stamped same as the first Medal. The two small Badges have a Crown with Canada stamped under it. Does anyone have some info on this Canadian 16/Inf. from the great War? How about some info on a H. campbell? What is SJT & Pte? Is this his rank? How about 29539, is this his serial number? Spaggy

mctaz Posted 24 February , 2008 Share Posted 24 February , 2008 "What is SJT & Pte? Is this his rank? How about 29539, is this his serial number?" Yes, Pte is Private & Sjt (or Sgt) Sergeant/Serjeant, his rank, and indeed 29539 is his service number! Jim

Andrew Upton Posted 24 February , 2008 Share Posted 24 February , 2008 A small point, but the ribbon that is on the 1914-15 Star should be on the British War Medal (the silver one without a ribbon at present).
