my father, bombadeir peter watt rga served 1909/1920 no31708 later rfa,no 283136, served ff1914 1915 then dardenels/mesopotamia, he joined 23coy rga @ gosport 31st dec 1910 after that i do not have any further info. can anyone tell me why his number would have changed, and would any one know which batteries serven in those 3 campains, as far as i can research his records were destroyed in ww2, yours in hope, rob.

Rob,

the most likely reason for him have two numbers is his having served in both RFA and RGA. These were considered different 'corps' by the Army - a man transfered from one corps to another received a new number.
