Theatre 5a

Just got a quick look at a local chaps Great War diary, stating he left England and went to Gallipoli.

However his Mic (see below) states first Theatre 5a 27/09/1915, now according to the Long Long Trail this is Asia.

Anyone got any ideas?

Many Thanks

Asiatic covered in 1914/15

Mesopotamia 5 a, Shaik Sai'd (South-West Arabia) 5 b, Aden Field Force 5 c, Seistan 5 d, Tochi Valley 5 e, Hafiz Kor 5 f, Katlang 5 g, Landakai Ridge 5 h + 5 h i, Perim 5 j, South of Mastung 5 k, Kachin Hills 5 l, Tsing-Tau 5 m

After 31/12/1915 Asiatic became Theatre of War 6 as opposed to 5 which then also included, the Hedjas, South Persia plus many other of the Indian Frontier regions.

Possibly Oman where there were British (and Indian) troops in 1915. This has been covered elsewhere in the forum and if the search engine is working should be findable
