The Guardroom Posted 28 January , 2008 Share Posted 28 January , 2008 Can anyone help advise where the 5th Reserve Bn Middlesex Regt was located during WW1. Was it the same location as the Regimantal Depot ? Thanks
Nigel Gordon Posted 28 January , 2008 Share Posted 28 January , 2008 The Headquarters of the two Reserve Battalions, the 5th and 6th Middlesex, were at Mill Hill as was the Deport for the Regiment. Regards Nigel
AGWR Posted 28 January , 2008 Share Posted 28 January , 2008 My understanding is that the 5th Bn moved from Mill Hill (NW7) to Rochester soon after the outbreak of war. thence to Chatham some time in 1916. In 1917, it moved to Gillingham., where I think it remained for the rest of the war. I will check when I finish work. Regards, AGWR
daggers Posted 28 January , 2008 Share Posted 28 January , 2008 Brig James's 'British Regiments 1914-1918' gives Rochester Aug '14, to Chatham March '16. In 1917 & '18 the 5th were at Gillingham. AGWR, hats off for your memory! Daggers
