mike j dunn Posted 28 January , 2008 Share Posted 28 January , 2008 Can anyone provide me with information about Lieutenant Edward Walter Capper, RFC and the MontgomeryshireYeomany. He died on 14 April 1917 whilst serving with 19 Squadron RFC. He is commemorated on the Arras Flying Services Memorial. Many Thanks, Mike Dunn
Dolphin Posted 28 January , 2008 Share Posted 28 January , 2008 Mike Lt E W Capper (formerly Montgomeryshire Yeomanry) was flying SPAD VII A6746 of No 19 Sqn RFC when he was killed in action on 14 April 1917. He was flying an Offensive Patrol when he was shot down in flames over Ballieul-Vitry-Sains. Ltn Kurt Wolff of Jasta 11 was credited with a victory at 1829; it was the 15th of his eventual 33 victories before his death in action on 15 September 1917. In Bloody April . . . Black September Norman Franks and the other authors remark that Lt Capper nearly brought down Ltn Wolff before the German triumphed. I hope that this is useful. per ardua per mare per terram Posted 28 January , 2008 Share Posted 28 January , 2008 These are possibly his records at Kew: WO 374/12291 CAPPER, 2/Lieut E W; there are also entries for E Capper.
