Remembered Today:

Hebrew on war graves

I am trying to find out the meaning of the Hebrew that appears on both German and British Jewish war graves.

I think it might mean 'passed over to paradise'. I contacted the CWGC but they had no idea.

Can anyone help?

Burlington,

If you mean the word 'MIZPAH' , it seems to mean 'May God watch over us while we are far apart'.

But if you mean the hebrew characters, I would not know.

Burlington,

If Fred is correct and what you want translated is the word MIZPAH

then there is an explanation given here

Mizpah when written in Hebrew characters appears thus - מצפה
