I have some letters/data from many years ago re. W>T>Evans & his interests in the Red Baron, has anyone heard of the former & would any enthusiasts be interested?

It may well be that all the data will have been enlarged upon but if anyone is interested ??

Gnr William James Evans was one of the two rostered anti-aircraft gunners with the 53rd Australian Artillery Battery on the day that Rittm Manfred von Richthofen was shot down (the other was Gnr Robert Buie). Evans fired at the triplane when it flew over the Australian positions.

Is he the man you're referring to?

Hello Gareth,

No I doubt the same man , the gent referred to is/was an American with an interest in locating the Barons victims & through a newspaper article we communicated , one of the Barons victims lived close to me in Southport & we tried without luck to find him.

I just thought perhaps some member might have an interest , although as I mentioned all the info . may well be in the public arena by now.

Thanks for your interest.

Colin
