Guest Simon Bull Posted 28 January , 2004 Share Posted 28 January , 2004 An officer I am studying (Lieutenant-Colonel Curtis, commanding Officer of the 4th Northamptonshire Regiment between August 1914 and October 1916) is described, between October 1916 and December 1918 as having been in command of "General Base Depot", and then an abbreviation is used which is either B.S.F or R.S.F., I cannot tell which. Between December 1918 and January 1919 he is in command of the "Dispersal Camp", and again the same abbreviation (again the first letter is not legible) is used. Thereafter, between January 1919 and April 1919, he is "Assistant Adjutant General (Demobilization)", and, again, the same abbreviation is used with the first letter again illegible. Can anyone tell me what B.S.F or R.S.F. stands for? Simon Bull

Guest Simon Bull Posted 28 January , 2004 Share Posted 28 January , 2004 Thanks Jock -- this fits entirely as he was in Salonika for a long time.
