Matt Dixon Posted 11 January , 2008 Share Posted 11 January , 2008 Can anyone tell about the following airman, about whom I know nothing other than CWGC details 2nd Lt Thomas Frank Leslie Myring, 55 Sq RAF, Killed in action 30/8/1918 aged 19, buried in Arnaville Churchyard. Any information would be gratefully received, as I have a blank canvas at the moment! Thanks.

Dolphin Posted 11 January , 2008 Share Posted 11 January , 2008 Matt 2Lt Thomas Frank Leslie Myring was the observer in DH 4 A7972 of No 55 Sqn, Independent Force, RAF, flown by 2Lt Thomas Harry Laing, when the airmen were killed in action on 30 August 1918. The DH 4s of No 55 Sqn were on a mission to bomb Köln or Coblenz when adverse weather conditions forced them to divert to Thionville. A7972 was shot down after combat with enemy aircraft. For more information, you might like to see Keith Rennles' Independent Force; ISBN 1 902304 90 X. I hope that this helps. Gareth
per ardua per mare per terram Posted 11 January , 2008 Share Posted 11 January , 2008 His RAF service record should be in AIR 76 at Kew, these are on microfilm in alphabetical order.
