old-ted Posted 3 January , 2008 Share Posted 3 January , 2008 We have recently bought a clock set into the centre of a wooden propeller and wondered what aircraft it would have come from. the prop is approx 18cm (7" ish) diameter with 8 holes drilled through it and is stamped with the following; 23 4 6 SFA in a square (3 times). On top it is marked Az and C8. There are other marks which we will see better when we remove the clock fron the case. The clock itself is marked "Mercedes" & Made in Germany. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks and Happy 2008 to all. John & Kathleen
Starlight Posted 8 January , 2008 Share Posted 8 January , 2008 Have a look at the following website - I've found it a great help in the past when trying to identify a WW1 propeller. http://www.woodenpropeller.com/WWI_Era_Propellers.html I had a look at a French Salmson A2A (reconaisance biplane) two-bladed propeller on this site and it also had the SFA marking (see attached picture). old-ted Posted 9 January , 2008 Author Share Posted 9 January , 2008 Thank's Starlight, I'll take a look at the web site you suggest. Interesting SFA picture, the SFA on the prop is stamped into the wood and contained in a square. Will post any info I pick up. John
