mpjbrennan Posted 17 December , 2007 Share Posted 17 December , 2007 The image below of some women footballers is a detail from a larger photograph showing the full team. The inscription on the board reads: The Rocket Ladies Football Club Danger Building O.F.C.F.3 Another photograph of the same team has the following inscribed on a football: R.A. Rockets F.C. 1918 The ladies are obviously female munition workers - the clothes and the triangular badges being worn by some of them indicates that. "OFCF3" might mean "OF Cartridge Factory no. 3" (I doubt that they made actual rockets). But, - what and where was the "Rocket" factory? Can anyone shed some light on this? Patrick BTW: The embroidered badges worn by two of the players signify (I think) "Captain" and "Vice-Captain" so they aren't of any help
Stephen Nulty Posted 17 December , 2007 Share Posted 17 December , 2007 A bit of Googling reveals here that Cartridge Factory No 3 (if it’s the same thing) was in Worcester.
