Dave1914 Posted 14 December , 2007 Share Posted 14 December , 2007 Hi, not sure if this is right place to post but im looking for some further information on a Noel Ignatius? Smith 13166 of 7th LNL, and eventually joined RFC (120527). Just wondering does anyone have or know where I could perhaps gain some info? David. per ardua per mare per terram Posted 14 December , 2007 Share Posted 14 December , 2007 The Royal Flying Corps (RFC) ceased to exist on 1 April 1918, amalgamating with the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS), it became the Royal Air Force (RAF). The RFC was an army unit, so their service records are like any other army search, the details would have probably been added to his 7/LNL service. The RAF started fresh records starting from its foundation (there are some references to prior service), these almost all survive (the others probably have not been transferred because the men were still serving). They are found in AIR 79 offline at Kew and are in service number order, so you're lucky you have that. His RAF record should be in AIR 79/1079 (120423 - 120550) this is offline at Kew, but can be ordered via 'shop online.'
