Sapper - 4th Avd. Co Royal Engineers

My grandad served with the 4th Avd Co Royal Engineers. Can anyone give me any info on this at all? Confirmation on the company, what a sapper was, where I can find a war diary, what the battalion did??

Anything?!

I suspect that the unit is the 4th Advanced Park Company.
