Chris_Baker Posted 1 December , 2007 Share Posted 1 December , 2007 This unit was formed in Portland in April 1916 and went to France soon afterwards. In July 1918 it was renamed 19th Garrison Battalion. Can anyone tell me any details of locations, movements, etc?
Graham Stewart Posted 1 December , 2007 Share Posted 1 December , 2007 Funny one this one. Went out as the 1st Garrison Bn, Hampshire Regt and seems to have been redesignated "19th(Garrison)Bn, Hampshire Regiment" on 31/7/1918 and not just "19th Garrison Bn". It was eventually disbanded in France on the 29th Sept 1919 and yet does not appear in the Order of Battle for the British Armies in France/Flanders for November 11th 1918 even at H.Q. or as a Line of Communications unit. Very strange??? Graham.
