English Rose was a trawler of 188 tons laid down in 1914. She was hired as a mine sweeper 1914-1919. I've got no source that lists a crew size.

Does your detailed reply indicate that you have an informaiton source about trawlers, etc? If so, I would very much like to learn something about:

HM Drifter Hastfen

HM Trawler New Comet.

Anything you can provide will be much appreciated.

New Comet, Admiralty Number 1496, Port Number GN75, 117 tons, launched 1910, Minesweeper, requisitioned May 1915 and lost (mined) off Orford Ness 20th January 1917.

The name New Comet was one used by the Q ship Rosskeen, Admly No 633, Port No GN14, 196 tons launched 1907, to all appearances a Minesweeper but armed with 1 x 4 in, 1 x 12 pounder, 1 x 6 pounder. From March 1917 to November 1918 used the names - Aldebaran, Bendigo II, Ethel Wulf II, General Hunter, New Comet. Survived to be returned 1919.

GN is the prefix for Granton near Edinburgh so she operated out of the river Forth.

Hired Drifter Hastfen. Admly No 1054, Port No YH93 ( Yarmouth) 77 tons, launched 1911, armed with 1 x 2 pounder gun, net minesweeper, requisitioned January 1915 and she was lost ( mined) 24th September 1917 off the Longsands.
