4th (Extra Reserve) Bn Lancs Fus

4.8.14 in Bury. 8.8.14 in Barrow-in-Furness. Oct 1916 to Barry, South Wales where it remained. (Humber Garrison)

So says Brig E A James in British Regiments 1914-18

Eh?

I don't think a unit in South Wales would be part of the 'Humber Garrison' - it would be part of the 'Severn Garrison'.

Brig James must have been having an off day.

For Blackblue - Severn is the river that divides SW England from Wales. 'Severn Garrison' presumably was made up of troops protecting docks, etc in South Wales.
