Guest rosemaryantwis Posted 14 January , 2004 Share Posted 14 January , 2004 Please could somebody tell me how to trace which hospital a casualty was in - I know that the man in question was wounded at the battle of Loos and came back to the U K for treatment . He had a serious gunshot wound to his left arm. The story in the family is that he was sent to a hospital in Oxford and that was where he met Grandma!! How can I find this out- a photo exists of him with nurses and various other soldiers from different regiments all with serious problems -lost limbsetc. the background is a large conical white tent . I only have this to go on- will there be anything at the PRO about casualties? Please could someone help, I am working so hard on my father -in-law's history and getting on quite well but I am stuck. Thank you Rosemary
paul guthrie Posted 14 January , 2004 Share Posted 14 January , 2004 Hello Rosemary, nice to hear from you! We were on a battlefields trip a few years ago, maybe one in Champagne. Right trip? Good luck. Paul
HERITAGE PLUS Posted 14 January , 2004 Share Posted 14 January , 2004 Rosemary A number of buildings were used as War Hospitals in Oxford. See: http://www.oucs.ox.ac.uk/ltg/projects/jtap...man/oxford.html Can you post a scan of the photo - I have family in Oxford who might recognise the building Dave
