David Seymour Posted 14 January , 2004 Share Posted 14 January , 2004 One of my men was in 2nd Bn. Welsh Regt .Special Reserve. What did Special Reserve mean? Many thanks. Best wishes, David

David Seymour Posted 14 January , 2004 Author Share Posted 14 January , 2004 Sorry Chris! Seconds after I'd made the post, I realised and went straight to the right place on the main site. Thanks. David
David Seymour Posted 14 January , 2004 Author Share Posted 14 January , 2004 Chris, So my man, Richard David Howell (2nd Lt Welsh Regt. when he died 15/9/18), could have been a pre-War reservist? He joined the staff at Thetford in Sept 1914 and left us that Dec. Perhaps he was expecting to go. Does this analysis work with his enlistment date. Please could you have a look for him in Soldiers/Officers Died? Many thanks, David
brindlerp Posted 14 January , 2004 Share Posted 14 January , 2004 For those interested. Apparently, in the Boer War, pay was 6 pence a day plus an extra 2 pence a day for Mounted Infantry (M.I.). regards Richard
