Guest Pete Wood Posted 14 January , 2004 Share Posted 14 January , 2004 I have recently joined a TE Lawrence group, which is currently discussing Lawrence's often used quote, "Sideshow of a sideshow" with regard to the Arab revolt. But who first said that the campaigns outside of France and Flanders was "a sideshow." ??

Robert Dunlop Posted 14 January , 2004 Share Posted 14 January , 2004 But who first said that the campaigns outside of France and Flanders was "a sideshow." ?? Haig believed it very strongly but I don't know if he was the first to voice it. Would the list (or anyone here) know how many Arabs participated in the revolt? I know the numbers varied but I am particularly interested in the phase leading up to the entry into Damascus. 2,000 is what I read recently but this was not referenced. Thanks
