Remembered Today:

How do I look someone up in the Navy List?

Hi All,

I would like to find more info on my late father,

Evan Douglas Wilson, (1896-1957).

He served as an Able Seaman with The Taylor and Sanderson Steam Shipping Company from 1911 to 1916, and then went into the RNR.

He was made up to Midshipman in February 1916, and subsequently made up to Sub Lieutenant, serving on HMS 'City of London', 'Vivid', 'Orcoma', 'Argus' and 'Victory'. He was wounded in The Battle of Jutland, and was invalided out in 1919.

Is The Navy List available to view on-line?

Cheers, Romilly.

Hello Romilly,

As far as I know the Navy Lists are not on line, but I have looked him up in the December 1918 Navy List which I have on compact disc.

Wilson, Evan D; Midshipman R.N.R. [Act. Sub-Lieut]; Seniority 27 Feb. 1916 [Tempy.]. There is no ship listed against his name.

Regards,

ARABIS.

Many thanks for looking for me Arabis. (I didn't know that it was available on CD).

I do now have the names of his ships, (from the FAAM).

Cheers, Romilly.
