I hope I've put this in the right thread. It is also on www.rootschat.com and www.themanchesters.org and it was suggested I put it here too.

I have an album that was owned by my 'Great Aunt' from when she was a VAD in the Barrack Hospital, Ashton Under Lyne, most are dated 1915.

There are ditties, drawings, accounts of their war so far or just a signature, depending on what the soldier wanted to write.

I am transcribing the name, rank, number and regiment where they have written them and a ? denotes I can't read it too well. If anyone recognises a name as theirs I will send you a transcription and photograph of the relevant page.

Madpants,

Well done on making this available to others.

I have an interest in the Somerset Light Infantry and would be grateful if you can send me any information recorded about L/Cpl F West 1st Somersets.

Although not a relative - I am working on a book on the 1st Somersets (a follow up to my battalion history of the 7th Somersets) and any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Brendon.

Could you let me have the infomation you have on Pte W P Jones 2nd West Yorkshire Regiment. I have an interest in the West Yorks. Could be one of two people either 19553 or 21096 Pte W Jones.

Thanks in advance Kevin

I think Frank Fogg was Corporal Albert Frank Fogg of the Buffs. He was a prewar soldier (Jan 1910) who went overseas to join the 1st Buffs on 28/9/1914 and later served with the 2nd Buffs with whom he was killed in September 1915.

Is there any info on him?

Mick
