Smith64 Posted 4 October , 2007 Share Posted 4 October , 2007 Maybe most of you already know this site, but I couldn't find any reference here so perhaps someone might find it useful... There is a collection of off-copyright books that are freely readable and downloadable on www.digitalbookindex.com, in particular: World War I: personal narratives and diaries http://www.digitalbookindex.com/_search/se...narrativesa.asp and World War I (period): http://www.digitalbookindex.com/_search/se...tworldwar1a.asp Elena

AlanCurragh Posted 4 October , 2007 Share Posted 4 October , 2007 Elana - thanks for posting this - was browsing a few books and came across this quote in "On The Anzac Trail" by "Anzac" - I trust forum rules will forgive me quoting the swearword in the circumstances... For, dear reader (please don't think I'm bragging), I'd rather be lying this moment in an unknown grave in the Gallipoli Peninsula than be branded for life as a God damned slacker ! That isn't swearing. It's a pious expression. And, take it either way, it's pardonable. What an amazing quotation! Alan
