andigger Posted 12 January , 2004 Share Posted 12 January , 2004 Recon Report: Just went to the new Air and Space Museum near Dulles Airport in Virginia. They have a great collection of aircraft (and space craft) from over the past 100 years. I thought it was also worth mentioning that among the WWI era planes they have a Caudron G4, SPAD XVI, Benoist-Korn Type XII, and a Nieuport 28. It was really cool to see everything. They had planes suspended from the ceiling as well as elevated walkways so you could really see them from every angle. Admission is free, parking is $12 per car. http://www.nasm.si.edu/udvarhazy/

MikeW Posted 2 October , 2005 Share Posted 2 October , 2005 I'm sorry to be "pickey" but the Hat In the Ring was the symbol of the American 94th Aero Squadron, not the Lafayette Escadrille. Mike
chrisharley9 Posted 2 October , 2005 Share Posted 2 October , 2005 Looks a great place to visit, however I will have to put up with Duxford for the time being as it is not so far on the bus All The Best Chris
andigger Posted 2 October , 2005 Author Share Posted 2 October , 2005 Mike - Not being picky, that is a good catch, 94th did use that Hat in the Ring, and the Escadille ised the Indian Head symbol. Sorry for the mix up. Andy
Ian Underwood Posted 3 October , 2005 Share Posted 3 October , 2005 This pic in particular needed a good brightening up. Looks like a facinating museum. Ian.
