stan johnson Posted 28 September , 2007 Share Posted 28 September , 2007 Nicko. Under remarks He passed educationally for Petty Officer 3/10/16 Satisfactory. His pay was extended for 28 days, however this time was not to be counted as naval service. He joined in june 1915. after initial training he left to join the ship which we cannot decipher. He had been made up to Able Seaman there his character was VG (Very Good) and his ability was (Sat)Satisfactory. joseph Posted 28 September , 2007 Share Posted 28 September , 2007 Nick, He passed his examinations for AB whilst still an OD, as soon as his Captain promoted him he passed educationally for Petty officer, for a Special Service chap this is very good. On 26th October 1916 HM Destroyer Flirt, built 1899, 380 tons, was shelled and sunk at point blank range by an unidentified German Destroyer, which was one of a group raiding the Dover Barrage, Strait of Dover. 60 men died.
