nicko576 Posted 26 September , 2007 Share Posted 26 September , 2007 Trying to find out what was HMS Prince of Wales was doing between October 1916 and July 1917, I know she was in the Adriatic, but what operation would she have been taking part in. Many thanks Nick
historydavid Posted 26 September , 2007 Share Posted 26 September , 2007 Nick, under treaty obligations to Italy, Britain and France sent warships to the Adriatic to help bolster the Italian fleet, in order to maintain superiority over the Austro-Hungarian fleet. Britain sent battleships Queen, London, Implacable and Prince of Wales under Admiral Thursby. There wasn't any particular operation involved, only a lot of swinging at anchor, because the A-H fleet didn't come out. Best wishes David
