Trying to find out what was HMS Prince of Wales was doing between October 1916 and July 1917, I know she was in the Adriatic, but what operation would she have been taking part in.

Many thanks

Nick

Nick, under treaty obligations to Italy, Britain and France sent warships to the Adriatic to help bolster the Italian fleet, in order to maintain superiority over the Austro-Hungarian fleet. Britain sent battleships Queen, London, Implacable and Prince of Wales under Admiral Thursby.

There wasn't any particular operation involved, only a lot of swinging at anchor, because the A-H fleet didn't come out.

Best wishes

David
