SiegeGunner Posted 23 September , 2007 Share Posted 23 September , 2007 HMS Jessamine, an Azalea-class sloop. HMS Colleen was the shore establishment at Queenstown in Ireland (now Dubh).
angelab Posted 23 September , 2007 Share Posted 23 September , 2007 Hi BBB I googled "Pembroke II" and found a reference to it on this genealogy site, which includes the passage: "Of the four secondments mentioned in the record above, three were to vessels. The fourth, HMS Pembroke, was the formal name of the Barracks at the Royal Naval Dockyard at Chatham, Kent. Opened in 1903, it saw service as an initial training facility for new recruits until its closure in 1984. The suffix, "I" or "II", was the number of the barrack block." historydavid Posted 23 September , 2007 Share Posted 23 September , 2007 bob, Colleen was a depot ship, which was the formerly the Royalist, renamed 1/12/13. The name in brackets is, I believe, Jessamine, an Azalea class sloop. Best wishes David
