Hi Colin:

What other information does this book give? I'm curious as I know my grandfather DOW on Aug. 19, 1917, but I don't know what action he was involved in (if any). He was with 15th Cheshires name: Pte. William Rushby.

Thanking you in advance.

The book is purely a list of the dead of the Cheshires during WW1, however checking my info. on the 35th. Div .(Bantams), the 15th. service battalion along with the 15th. Sherwoods were involved in the fighting at the Knoll & Guillemont farm near Lempire at the time .

I can only assume your relative was one of the casualties but he could well have been wounded earlier in a previous action & consequently DOW.

Having checked the records your grandfather (Coltersdale??) was originally in the West Yorks. No.1809

Regimental no. 52376 Pte. 15th. Cheshires.

Hope this helps.

Colin

If you mean L/cpl. 21348 Perrie Todd he ws kia 3/4/16 (Maryhill, Lanark?)

Hope that's correct, only one man of that name, I think you might have the 4 & 3 in his number reversed!

Regards.

Colin
