armourersergeant Posted 11 January , 2004 Posted 11 January , 2004 I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is an online ability for papers showing obituries. For instance..' In F-W obitury in the times 27th Jan 1939, Sir james Edmonds is quoted as saying that Forestier-Walker had been scapegoated fro the failures of 21st Division at Loos.' This is info i have been sent but i was wondering how would someone have access readily to this imformation. Would it be in book form or online or would it have occurred by them accessing the papers visually. the last option does not seem valid given that the info was sent by return. If this makes sense please help! Arm.
MartinWills Posted 12 January , 2004 Posted 12 January , 2004 I have a vague recollection that someone may have indexed Times Obits but for the life of me I can't remember where. That said if you have a date of death for any notable it is likely that within a few days the major dailies (broadsheets) carriewd an obit. This web page seems to indicate that the facility has been withdrawn. http://www-gap.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/~history/S...imes_obits.html Martin
Muerrisch Posted 12 January , 2004 Posted 12 January , 2004 Major Libraries do indeed have a printed index of TIMES obits, and some have the microfilm of the TIMES itself.
