John G Posted 5 September , 2007 Share Posted 5 September , 2007 To all I have a soldier from the above regiment called Harry Wood. He was a Private in the above regiment that I cannot locate on CWGC, but I have a date on which he supposedly died in Alexandria, January 1920. Is there any information where I could check this out? Thanks John
Sue Light Posted 9 September , 2007 Share Posted 9 September , 2007 John Checking the military deaths index, the only Harry Wood I could find with a date of death in 1920 seems to fit the bill. He is: Pte. Harry Wood, G/26741, Royal West Kent Regiment and the reference is: 1920.S1.189 He doesn't seem to appear on the CWGC, unless he's been mis-transcribed. It might be an idea to post his details in the 'Non-Commemoration' section of the forum. If you obtain a copy of his death certificate, there should be no problem in getting the CWGC to accept his status as war dead. Sue
John G Posted 12 September , 2007 Author Share Posted 12 September , 2007 Sue, thank you very much. I have tried the CWGC and hit the same problem. According to the form requesting his name on the local memorial in the record office he his recorded as dying in Lea, Mesopotamia. Thanks for your time John
