Poacher Posted 5 September , 2007 Share Posted 5 September , 2007 I was hoping someone would be able to tell me if these two ladies are nurses at the time of the Great War or are they later? Does the N.A. printed on their dresses mean Nursing Auxilliaries? Thanks Poacher .
alliekiwi Posted 5 September , 2007 Share Posted 5 September , 2007 Sue is the best at this sort of thing. Meanwhile, my untutored opinion is that they are later than the Great War due to a. the length of their skirts and b. their hair styles. However, if Sue quibbles with that I'm quite willing to bow to greater knowledge! Allie
montbrehain Posted 5 September , 2007 Share Posted 5 September , 2007 I would say not Great War. Most likely 1930s, "MO"
Sue Light Posted 5 September , 2007 Share Posted 5 September , 2007 The same question has caused me problems in the past - eventually solved when I found the poster which I've attached at the bottom. I would certainly have put the photo in the early 1930s [no quibbles Allie ] but in fact the Civil Nursing Reserve wasn't formed until the end of 1938, so it's later than it looks - must be WW2 I think. Poacher Posted 5 September , 2007 Author Share Posted 5 September , 2007 Thanks everyone. I had no idea about the styles but the photo quality put doubts in my mind. That's another loose end tidied up. Cheers Poacher.
