Remembered Today:

Lt. A Jerrard VC MVB

Looking at a list of WW1 flying VCs Jerrald does not have any other British gallantry award shown beside his VC. However as his action was over Italy (taking on ten KuK Albatross fighters and shooting down at least three before being forced down by the Austrian ace Benno Fiala, Ritter von Fernbrugg) is it possible that the Italians also made him an award ? I'm not familiar with Italian decorations but perhaps someone else out there is.

Thanks all, especially for the extra refs.

Alan Jerrard was a pupil at the school where I teach and also son of the Headmaster.

This is what the WW1 version of the Italian Bronze Military Valour Medal looks like.

The ribbon is in fact a darker Cornflower blue but I have highligted the medal which is a dark chocolate bronze for clarity.
